Out of my comfort zone

Hello Everyone!  My name is Juliana and ETEC 522 is my 7th course.

I have had a very varied career.  I have worked as a research technician in the biotech field and I have also worked as a biosafety associate in the laboratory safety field.  I have also completed my Bachelors in Education degree in Secondary Science.

I enjoy teaching in the adult education environment and I am intrigued by serious games and Multi-User Learning Environments (MUVEs).  I am also interested in creating appropriate assessments for blended and completely online environments and I wonder why the MET program does not have a course dedicated to the topic.  I do hope that they create a course in assessments soon as I would love to take it 🙂 !

I look forward to this course as I am interested in seeing what will help me be a “successful pioneer” in this field.  As my background was mostly in the sciences, I have never had the opportunity to analyze businesses or  had the opportunity to create a venture of my own.  This sounds like a daunting process to me, but I hope to learn a lot from the experience.

My other interests do include food.  Not cooking food, but eating food!  I enjoy trying the different restaurants here in Vancouver and I have created a website dedicated to this.  Juliana’s Favorite Restaurants (The Vancouver Chapter) only states some of my top picks, but I do hope to one day create a more comprehensive site showing all of my dining experiences.

Looking forward to working with you all!

Juliana.
